Ismail Fatah Al Turk was a seminal Iraqi sculptor and painter, and a core member of the Baghdad Modern Art Group. He is celebrated for his ability to fuse ancient Mesopotamian heritage with modernist abstraction, notably in his monumental public works like the Al-Shaheed Monument in Baghdad. His diverse practice spanned painting and bronze sculpture, focusing on the human condition and the fostering of a modern Iraqi national identity.
