Lot 126, Tielke's volume on the war between the Prussians, Austrians, and Russians, is from the Library of Thomas Howard, the British deserter and United States supporter. Lot 53 isJohn Greaves volume on the history of English weights and measures. Lot 1 is an Andreas Vogler sundial and compass. Lot 7 is a Young & Sons transit and tripod. Andreas Vogler (1730-1800) Sundial and compass, 18th century.
German brass Augsburg type sundial, with compass. With city latitudes engraved on back. Finely engraved octagonal base plate.
Engraved on back:
Eleva Poli [meaning Elavatio Polarium or latitude]
Collen 51 Grim 41
Ingolstadt 48
And Vogl [Andreas Vogler]
Diameter: 2 1/8 in.Condition
Fair. Lacking glass cover and compass needle. Slight bends to edges of base plate, commensurate with age.
