Cast in dark patinated bronze and finished with extensive hand-applied polychrome decoration and selective gilding, depicting a Native American warrior-dancer in dramatic motion, one arm raised brandishing a whip or ceremonial implement and the other holding a shield decorated with symbolic motifs. The figure wears a monumental feathered headdress associated with the Thunderbird, painted beadwork, leggings, and ritual adornments, with finely modeled musculature and expressive movement emphasizing ceremonial dance. The figure is mounted on a shaped naturalistic base set atop a circular black plinth and a stepped wooden socle. The underside applied with a brass presentation plaque inscribed "Spirit of the Thunderbird" and signed by the artist R. Hunter. American work, late 20th century, produced as a decorative limited-production bronze in the tradition of Western and Native American-themed sculpture.
H: 10 13/16 in., (27.5 cm.) including base.
Very good overall condition.
