- Lot Description
Field-gray wool M43 Einheitsfeldmütze issued to Wehrmacht Gebirgsjäger mountain troops. The cap is of standard construction with a short forward visor, fold-down side and rear panels secured at the front with two pebbled field-gray zinc buttons, and the national trapezoid insignia machine-woven in subdued colors and applied to the front. The left side retains the cast alloy Edelweiss badge, correctly executed with textured petals and a gilt-finished center, affixed through the cloth in a regulation manner. The interior is lined in gray rayon with a stitched-in partial sweatband of ersatz leatherette and shows period factory or depot ink markings beneath the lining.
Size 54.
Condition
Overall very good condition for a combat-issued late-war cap. Wool retains its strong form with expected wear and surface nap. Minor staining to the interior lining. Visor and buttons intact. Heer trapezoid insignia and Edelweiss badge are original and securely affixed.
