A traditional Jambiya, a type of curved dagger most commonly associated with Turkey. The blade is short with a pronounced central ridge, double-edged, and curved. It's typically used for ceremonial purposes rather than practical combat. The hilt is made of horn. The sheath is made of hammered silver with ornate and decorated with intricate geometric and human-like motifs, along with turquoise inlays, suggesting it is of Yemeni or Omani origin. This craftsmanship is characteristic of traditional silversmith work in the region.
In Yemen and parts of the Arabian Peninsula, the jambiya is worn by men as a symbol of status, tradition, and honor.
It is often given as a gift or used in ceremonial attire, particularly during weddings or important gatherings.
L: 15 5/8 in., (39.7 cm.)
Blade pitted throughout but retains its original form. Some dents to the silver scabbard. Silver is still bright.
