Tall ovoid bronze vase cast in high relief with a continuous design of vertical bamboo stalks and arching leaves, the composition skillfully modeled to create depth and rhythmic movement around the body. The surface is finished with a nuanced dark brown and warm golden-brown patination, accentuating the raised bamboo forms against the recessed ground. The vase is signed vertically along the body "James Barker" and numbered "11/50," indicating a limited-edition work by the artist, executed as part of a controlled sculptural series. The confident modeling, naturalistic treatment of the bamboo, and refined patination place the work firmly within the late 20th-century Western studio bronze tradition, conceived as a decorative sculptural object rather than a functional vessel.
