Naturalistically modeled seated, with head turned to the side, the finely hand-painted coat in tones of black and white with glossy glaze finish, characteristic of Meissen’s high-quality porcelain animal figures. The expressive face, detailed eyes, and sculpted fur capture the lively character of the breed.
Bearing impressed and incised numerals to the base, underglaze blue crossed swords mark of Meissen.
Germany, Meissen Manufactory, late 19th – early 20th century.
