A finely modeled white-glazed porcelain figure depicting a seated putto or Amor shown nude and holding a stylized bow. The figure is rendered with soft rounded anatomy and sensitively modeled facial features, the head gently inclined with a playful and introspective expression. The putto is seated upon a naturalistic rocky base with subtly integrated scrolling support elements. The surface is finished in a uniform glossy white glaze emphasizing the sculptural form and rhythmic contours characteristic of Paul Scheurich’s early 20th century figural designs.
Marks: Underglaze blue Meissen crossed swords mark, impressed crossed swords with text underneath, impressed number '70657', handwritten '-Amor- P. Scheurich (1904-1916) [????] 1934'.
Lit.: Paul Scheurich, Meissener Manuskripte vol. 8, ill. p. 39.
H: 5 5/8 in., (14.3 cm.)
Excellent, with no apparent chips or cracks.
