Each cup of cylindrical form with a loop handle, paired with a matching scalloped saucer, is decorated in polychrome enamels on a white ground. The cups are painted with finely rendered genre scenes depicting figures in 18th-century dress in outdoor settings, after Western European pastoral and fête galante compositions, interspersed with landscape elements. The reverse of each cup is decorated with floral sprays including roses, tulips, and wildflowers. The saucers were painted en suite with scattered floral bouquets arranged asymmetrically around the well. All pieces finished with narrow gilt rims and gilt-edged borders. The undersides bear hand-painted blue inventory or painter’s marks in the form of the letter "Z".
H: 2 5/8 in., (6.7 cm.) D: 5 5/8 in., (14.3 cm.)
Overall good condition. One cup with visible rim chips and associated glaze losses. Expected rubbing and thinning to gilt edges. Light surface wear and minor firing imperfections consistent with age and use.
