This trousse is uniquely large with two knives (one large and one small) and a fork. The sheath is made of wood in a half-tubed shape tapering to a point at the bottom, with brass mounts and fabric lining. The brass mounts are intricately designed with vine and floral motifs and a shield on the largest of the mounts. The handles of each utensil are made of horn and carved in a vertical ribbed pattern.
France, 18th century.
Length including scabbard: 16 1/2 in., (41.9 cm.)
Good overall with pitting through steel parts, especially to largest blade. Brass fixtures still bright and well attached with some minor oxidation to rear. Fabric lining faded and worn consistent with age. Some minor chips to horn handles.
