A reclining nude odalisque, or a woman of the harem, sat atop an Ottoman cushion covered with fine cloths and the skin of a lion. She wears little else but her elaborate jewelry. This piece is marked 'geschutzt' on the underside of the rug, indicating its manufacture by the workshop of famed Vienna bronzeworker Franz Xavier Bergmann.
Vienna, Austria, c. 1900.
H: 2 5/8 in., (6.7 cm.)
Good overall with some wear to the paint in places.
