- Lot Description
A Roman Imperial bronze sestertius struck under Emperor Severus Alexander, weighing approximately 22.9 grams. The obverse bears a laureate bust of Severus Alexander facing right, with legend identifying the emperor, the portrait retaining clear facial features despite circulation wear and surface patina. The reverse depicts a standing figure, likely a personification or deity, holding attributes associated with imperial virtue or authority, surrounded by an inscription consistent with issues of AD 231. The coin exhibits a dark green to brown patina with areas of lighter corrosion and earthen accretions, typical of ancient bronze coinage The attribution corresponds to RIC IV Severus Alexander no. 549.
