Porcelain lidded teacup and matching saucer from the Kuznetsov manufactory, decorated in a rich pink ground and finely hand-painted with polychrome floral sprays, heightened with gilded accents. The cup is cylindrical with a scroll handle, fitted with a conforming domed lid surmounted by a shaped knop. The saucer is similarly decorated en suite, with concentric gilt bands framing floral ornament.
The underside bears a blue underglaze factory mark of the Kuznetsov Porcelain Manufactory, featuring the Imperial double-headed eagle and Cyrillic inscription “М.С. Кузнецовъ,†confirming manufacture during the Imperial Russian period. Kuznetsov porcelain was renowned for its high technical quality and wide distribution among the Russian middle and upper classes, supplying both utilitarian wares and decorative table services throughout the second half of the 19th century.
The color palette, combining a rose-pink ground with gilding and naturalistic floral motifs, reflects late 19th-century taste influenced by both Western European porcelain traditions and Russian decorative preferences. Lidded teacups of this type were often used for tea or hot chocolate and were valued for both their practicality and decorative appeal.
Cup with lid: H: 5 1/4 in., (13.4 cm.), Saucer: D: 7 in., (17.8 cm.)
Good overall condition. Minor rubbing to gilding and light surface wear from age and use. Small firing imperfections and glaze irregularities typical of Kuznetsov production. No visible cracks or repairs.
