- Lot Description
A cast gilt bronze (or gilt spelter in some versions), with intricate repoussé and chased work. The panels are finely painted Vienna enamel on copper, depicting Romantic genre scenes inspired by 18th-century French painting (e.g., Watteau, Boucher). Vienna, Austria, ca. 1880.W: 3 1/8 in., (8 cm.)The enamel is intact, clean, and vibrant excellent preservation of painted detail. The ormolu gilding is lightly worn in spots, with areas of oxidation or patina, especially on the legs and back. Structurally sound.
