- Lot Description
A map of India published in 1807 by the famed German cartographer Heinrich Christian Albers (1773-1833), most well known for the iconic Albers projection. This chart, entitled 'Charte von Ostindien disseits des Ganges im gegenwartigen Zustande', was based on previous work by the English cartographer Aaron Arrowsmith (1750-1823).
The map shows the various mountain ranges, rivers, islands, and other geographic features throughout India, in addition to those in modern day Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka (listed here as Ceylon), as well as a portion of the Maldives. All the major cities of India can be seen, including Mumbai (listed here as Bombay), Hyderabad, and Delhi, among countless others. The Bay of Bengal is also labelled along with the mouth of the Ganges.

Condition
Very good for its age with expected light foxing throughout. A ghost imprint of an explorer's portrait on the verso. No tears.
