- Lot Description
An 18th century Indian matchlock gun with a beautifully chased and gilt barrel. The breech in particular shows a gilt figure of a queen, probably a European queen given the style of the crown and hair. The flared muzzle is decorated with intricate foliate motifs in similar style. The trigger is decorated with gold koftgari, and the steel lockplate above it, while plain across its surface, is decorated with a scalloped rim, and also has a finger groove for the left hand towards its end.

L: 70 3/4 in., (180 cm.)
Condition
Barrel is slightly pitted at the center. Gilding at the breech is slightly faded. Wooden stock with a crack beneath barrel. Otherwise good.
