- Lot Description
A Caucasian style knife set from the Ottoman Empire, the smaller being similar in style to a modern butter knife, while the larger is in the characteristic form of a kindjal, with a gladius-like blade and many fullers. Both knives have guards with chased decoration as well as carved bone grip scales. They are kept within a red leather sheath with gilt stitching and a border cut with triangular patterning at the mouth.
Ottoman Empire or Caucasus, 19th century.
L: 10 3/4 in., (27.4 cm.)
Condition
Very good for age with some minor pitting to the blades and some expected wear to leather.
