- Lot Description
A Turkish shamshir of characteristic form with a curved, single-edged Damascus steel blade and a grip of carved horn. The scabbard is made of two woodned scales covered in stitched shagreen black leather with silver mounts.
Ottoman Empire (Turkey), 19th century.
L: 38 1/2 in., (98 cm.)
Condition
Blade may need to be cleaned. Traces of rust towards tip of the blade. One quillon with a crack. One grip scale with a large chip. Scabbard retains most of its original leather. Bottom scabbard mount with oxidation and a crack.
