- Description: Fine Antique French Rococo Solid Gold Tortoise Shell Vanity Snuff Trinket Box w/ Signed Lady in Lace Ivory Miniature Portrait Painting by PASTE P ASTE or PASTEUR Illegible Signature. Solid gold hand hammered and beautifully pinned circa 18th century box, superbly costumed court type portrait of a Lady Pierre Thouron on an old owner’s label inside. This descended in the branch of the Thouron family that included the war hero Thouron who married Essie DuPont in the mid-20th century whose son was nicknamed or named Tiger (the famous American Delaware Duponts). Signed on edge of painting lower to mid-right. The only five letters we can read are PASTE so it maybe Paste, P. Aste, Pasteur, etc. The gold framings tested as over 18K solid gold.
- Approx. Dimensions or Size: 3-1/8 inch diameter x 1-1/4 inch height
- Condition: Preowned with some wear and discoloration but overall well preserved for age! Some of the pins are missing or separated. See photos for details.
