Lieutenant Creitz (alternative spelling Cresty) mustered into service from Muscatine County, Iowa on May 14th 1862, was appointed 1st Lieutenant August 2, 1862, and mustered out of service August 10, 1865. The 35th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry was involved in the following engagements: The Siege of Vicksburg, Red River Campaign, Battle of Pleasant Hill, and the Battle of Nashville.
