A FINE CARVED IVORY GROUPING OF CHRIST THE GOOD SHEPHERD, FRENCH, 19TH CENTURY. Carved in full round with deep folds and cascading hair. Christ kneels down to retrieve a lost sheep ensnarled in a thornbush. Resting on a carved, ivory, circular, stepped plinth. Underside of base with faded old dated dedicatory inscription rendered in French, Pour ma bien aimee Marie- Jacques 1 Juine 1875. Height 4.5 inches (11.5 cm).
