AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIR, the shaped, step-down crest rail over a pierce-carved splat above a trapezoidal seat frame now upholstered over-the-rail, raised on square legs with beaded outer edge joined by molded box stretcher. Old surface with warm color. Fourth quarter 18th century. 37 1/4" HOA, 16 1/4" x 22" seat. Provenance: From a New England private collection.
Good condition overall, with minor wear. Blocking likely replaced. Shoe (detached but present) with old crack and repair. Later upholstery.
