AMERICAN, PROBABLY NEW ENGLAND, PAINT-DECORATED PINE BOOKCASE, one-piece construction, a rare form, the applied molded cornice above two hinged 18-pane doors and solid ends, raised on a slightly stepped base with two short thumb-molded drawers raised on cut-out bracket feet of dovetailed construction. Retains likely original brass H-form hinges. Early grain-painted surface. First quarter 19th century. 76" H, 54 1/2" WOA, 14 3/4" DOA. Provenance: From a Shenandoah Valley private collection.
Very good overall condition with losses to one hinge (now replaced). Restoration to rear feet.
