FREDERICK CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA WALNUT BLANKET CHEST, the hinged rectangular lid over a dovetailed case concealing interior with lidded till, above two short lipped drawers having line inlaid decoration, applied base molding below, all raised on turned elongated ball feet mortised into the bottom of the case. Yellow pine and poplar secondary woods. Retains original wrought-iron strap hinges. Excellent early surface with rich, deep color. Discovered in Frederick Co., VA. Fourth quarter 18th century. 32" H, 47 1/2" W, 21 3/4" D. Provenance: Property of a Winchester, VA lady.
