HARPER'S WEEKLY THOMAS NAST CIVIL WAR RELATED POLITICAL CARTOON, hand colored, dated March 11, 1876, and depicting a caricature of Jefferson Davis, holding a fan, with hoop skirt frame exposed under his garments, standing on a platform captioned "THE UNPROTECTED FEMALE / OR THE / DEFRAUDED SOUR APPLE / TREE / A COMIC TRAGEDY," with a knight on horse back rearing up to defend him, the whole image captioned "INJURED INNOCENCE - SOUTHERN "CHIVALRY" NOT DEAD YET."
