WEST VIRGINIA STENCILED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, stenciled "2" gallon capacity, cylindrical form with slight shoulder, beaded neck, and flat-top rounded rim, Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt "PALATINE POTTERY Co," arched above a rearing horse "PALATINE / W.VA", brushed dashes flanking the capacity designation and stripe below rim. Circa 1875. 11 1/4" H, 6 3/4" D rim.
