WEST VIRGINIA VERNACULAR WORK / SEWING STAND, an unusual form of atypical construction, the circular revolving top, connected to a turned and threaded shaft, over a shallow open space flanked by turned baluster supports above a circular platform, the whole raised on simple ring-turned legs. Fine early dry surface with warm color. Discovered in Monroe Co., WV. Mid 19th century. 28 5/8" H, 23 5/8" D (top). Provenance: From a West Virginia private collection.
Excellent condition with minor wear to surface. Top with light staining and minor burn mark.
