- Mt Washington Late 19th Century Hand Painted Lidded Floral Handled Biscuit Jar
- The jar, of swirled cylindrical form, is fashioned in Mount Washington's signature soft opaline glass — its blush-toned, satin-finished ground possessing the warm, almost flesh-like luminosity for which the New Bedford manufactory's art glass is universally admired. Scattered across the surface with artful informality, a garden of small enameled violets and pansies unfolds in lavender, periwinkle, and soft blue, each blossom accented with delicate gilt detailing that catches the light with quiet brilliance. The loose, naturalistic disposition of the floral sprays lends the composition a freshness entirely consistent with the best hand-decorated glass of the period.
