Ca. 1900-Fashioned of a well-dressed hardwood branch with a wrinkled bark an integral and substantial bow carved with a reclining nude and fitted with a metal ferrule. The carving is naturalistic and with an unusual fine detail and gently highlighted with dark paint. Presenting a tour de force of folk art carving, this cane raises folk art to stellar heights. Very daring for its day, this cane is loaded with charisma and inherent individuality and aged well with a very desirable well used surface and uniform warm tone.
