Ball-shaped porcelain knob embellished with the portrait of a beauty on top and plain turquoise on the bottom, joined by a bold golden line and matching moriage. The rendering is in the style of the 18th century and is sensitively executed in minute, accurate detail, and the pastel colors of the face highlight the beauty's youth, while her dress, elaborate hairdo, and pearl necklace hint at a high-ranking social status.
The knob comes with a grooved and gilt collar on a well-streaked, richly hued rosewood shaft, and a matched horn ferrule.
This indoor vanity cane dates back to a period when quality porcelain was very highly regarded, consequently prized, and the pride of every cultivated person. It has many particularities, including the characteristic turquoise color, which speaks for the French Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres.
Despite its incredible fragility, the cane survived intact with the expected age wear.

The Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres is one of the principal European porcelain manufacturers. It is located in Sèvres, Hauts-de-Seine, France. The manufacture was continuously part of the political order, first royal, then imperial, and finally national. In continuous operation since 1740, the manufactory has been creating upscale objects. Its production is still primarily based around the creation of contemporary objects today. It became part of the Cité de la céramique with the Musée national de Céramique-Sèvres in 2010 and, since 2012, with the Musée national Adrien Dubouché in Limoges.
Each auction has different shipping terms but the buyer always pays.
