James W. Guercio took Moondog into the studio in 1969 to produce a record for Columbia Records after meeting the artist on the streets of New York City wearing his signature cloak and Viking-style helmet. Mr. Guercio produced two albums with the poet composer, to this day they are the recordings of which he is most proud.
Tracks from Moondog can be found on the soundtrack for the 1998 film The Big Lebowski.
