Unique and intricate medieval knight sculpture with flail created by listed artist James Wines of New York. Sculpture was made earlier in his career and dates from the 1950's. Its overall measurement is 40" by 12" by 12" which includes the wood base which measures 9.5" by 9.5" by 4" high. Signed "Wines". In very good vintage condition.
Wines is an American artist and architect of environmental design. He became a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome and was bestowed a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1962. He began his career as a successful sculptor and graphic designer, exhibiting with the Otto Gerson Gallery (subsequently Marlborough Gallery) in New York.
