- Lot Description
A Queen Anne Oak Tall Case Clock Movement, John Williamson, Leeds, Circa 1700
The ten-inch square brass dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, with silvered chapter ring, having a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and two winding arbors to the matte center, within cast spandrels, engraved 'Jn Williamson in Leeds Fecit', the eight day twin train movement with four knopped pillars, and anchor escapement, striking on a bell.
Dimensions: Height 88 1/2in; width 23 1/4in; depth 10 1/2in.
Provenance: From a Bucks County Collection.
Footnote: John Williamson was born circa 1651 in Guisley, England, just north of Leeds. Williamson is listed as a member in The Clockmakers' Company of London directory in 1682.
Condition
The case and movement are together by association. The case with typical marks, wear, nicks, and surface scratches commensurate with age and use. Shrinkage and age cracks. Minor repairs, replacements and embellishments throughout. The dial and movement appear to be in overall good condition. With pendulum, two weights and case key. At the time the condition report was conducted, the clock was currently maintaining power and functioning correctly. We cannot guarantee the completeness or functionality of the clock's movement.
