- Lot Description
A French Gilt Bronze Mounted Japanese Porcelain Mantel Clock, Late 19th Century
The circular enamel dial having Roman hours and Arabic minutes, having a platform escapement and outside countwheel, striking on a bell, the backplate with Samuel Marti pastille.
Dimensions: Height 18 1/4in; width 8in; depth 8in.
Provenance: From a New Jersey Collection.
Condition
The porcelain clock case with rubbing to decoration and gilding, crazing overall. The enameled dial with minor losses, fleabites and touched-up repairs. The gilt bronze mounts with varying quality; many areas are lacking detail and appear flat. The reverse of clock is lacking glass to bronze bezel that covers movement access. With winding key. We cannot guarantee the completeness and functionality of the clock's movement.
