After Émile Gallé (French, 1846–1904)
Cameo Art-Glass VaseA finely crafted cameo art-glass vase in the style of Émile Gallé, featuring layered decoration in relief with naturalistic motifs characteristic of the French Art Nouveau period. The surface is etched with floral and foliate designs, signed Gallé towards the upper left of the vessel.
Dimensions: 5 1/4 in. wide x 12 1/2 in. high x 4 1/2 in. deep
Condition: Overall good; light wear consistent with age and handling.
Artist Bio
Émile Gallé (1846–1904) was a pioneering French designer and glassmaker, recognized as one of the leading figures of the Art Nouveau movement. Based in Nancy, Gallé revolutionized decorative glassmaking through his use of cameo, marquetry, and acid-etching techniques, often inspired by botanical and natural forms. His works were celebrated for their technical innovation and lyrical beauty, earning acclaim at the 1889 and 1900 Paris Expositions.
