An etching on paper after François Boucher, one of the foremost artists of the French Rococo period. Measuring approximately 16 x 19 in., the work reflects Boucher’s hallmark themes of pastoral romance, mythological narrative, and decorative elegance, executed here in finely detailed line work characteristic of 18th-century reproductive prints. Although unsigned, the etching embodies the refined aesthetic and ornamental charm associated with Boucher’s influential oeuvre.

François Boucher (1703–1770) was a French painter, draughtsman, and printmaker celebrated as one of the leading figures of the Rococo style. A favorite of Madame de Pompadour, he became First Painter to King Louis XV and was admired for his idyllic, sensual depictions of mythological subjects, allegories, and pastoral scenes. Boucher’s work epitomized the Rococo’s decorative flair, lightness, and playful eroticism, leaving a lasting influence on 18th-century European art and design.
