“Coquille” Art Glass Bowl
Circa 1950sA mid-century Swedish art glass bowl from the renowned Flygsfors glassworks, designed in the celebrated Coquille style. The bowl features elegant freeform contours and layered glass in translucent tones, showcasing the organic, flowing aesthetic that became emblematic of Scandinavian modern design.
Signed “Flygsfors Coquille” on the underside, this example demonstrates the studio’s mastery of graal-inspired layering and smooth, polished transitions between color and clear glass.
Dimensions: Approx. 7 1/4 in. high x 12 1/2 in. long
Condition: Overall good vintage condition with light wear consistent with ageContext
The Coquille line was introduced by Flygsfors in the early 1950s under the artistic direction of Paul Kedelv, whose designs defined Swedish postwar glass artistry. Characterized by their shell-like forms and subtle color gradients, these works epitomized the marriage of function and sculpture in mid-century Nordic design.
