Artist Bio
Itzchak Tarkay (1935–2012) was an Israeli painter and printmaker best known for his serene portrayals of women in social and domestic settings. Born in Subotica, Yugoslavia, Tarkay survived internment during World War II before emigrating to Israel in 1949. He later studied at the Avni Institute of Art in Tel Aviv, where he developed his unique style influenced by Impressionism, Fauvism, and Post-Impressionism. Internationally exhibited, Tarkay achieved global recognition, and his works are held in numerous private and public collections. His art remains celebrated for its grace, harmony, and timeless elegance.
