Offset LithographAn offset lithograph after Jasper Johns’s iconic Savarin composition, depicting paintbrushes arranged in a Savarin coffee tin. Signed in the plate at the lower right. Measuring 12 1/4 x 9 1/2 in. (sheet), with frame 21 3/4 x 18 in. This image has become one of Johns’s most enduring motifs, uniting everyday objects with painterly gesture and serving as a meditation on the tools of the artist’s trade.

Jasper Johns (b. 1930) is one of the most influential American artists of the postwar era, often credited with bridging Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, and Conceptual Art. Emerging in the 1950s with his celebrated flag and target paintings, Johns redefined the boundaries of subject and symbol in contemporary art. His Savarin motif, first executed in 1960, reflects his interest in the everyday as a vehicle for artistic exploration, elevating ordinary objects into subjects of enduring visual and conceptual power.
