Large Ceramic VaseA bold and expressive ceramic vase by Peter Robert Keil, decorated in the artist’s distinctive Neo-Expressionist style with dynamic brushstrokes and vibrant colors. Signed by the artist along the top rim of the vase, the work demonstrates Keil’s ability to translate his energetic painterly vocabulary into three-dimensional form.
Dimensions: 11 3/4 in. diameter x 17 1/2 in. high
Condition: Overall good; light surface wear consistent with age.
Artist Bio
Peter Robert Keil (b. 1942) is a German painter and sculptor associated with the Junge Wilde (Young Wild Ones) movement of the 1960s and 1970s. A student of Otto Nagel, Keil developed a raw, gestural style influenced by German Expressionism and the energy of postwar European art. His work often incorporates bold color fields, exaggerated forms, and emotive portraiture. In addition to painting, Keil explored ceramics and sculpture, bringing the same intensity and spontaneity to three-dimensional works.
