Barney’s New York Cup
Screenprint on Paper Cup, c. 1979A rare screenprinted paper cup designed by Roy Lichtenstein for Barney’s New York. Presented in a protective glass dome, the work measures approximately 8 in. high x 4 1/2 in. diameter (with dome). This playful object translates Lichtenstein’s iconic Pop Art vocabulary — bold lines, Ben-Day dots, and comic-inspired motifs — onto an everyday disposable item, blurring the line between fine art and consumer culture.

Roy Lichtenstein (1923–1997) was a central figure of the Pop Art movement, celebrated for his transformation of comic book imagery and commercial design into high art. Collaborations such as the Barney’s New York projects highlight Lichtenstein’s interest in extending Pop Art into everyday life, reflecting his conviction that art and commerce are inextricably linked.
