Ash Murphy is an Art Education student at MassArt (BFA expected 2028). His work has been featured in local community spaces and classroom exhibitions. In 2024, he received the Roy H. Beaton Scholarship in recognition of his creativity and commitment to art education, as well as an honorable mention from the Scholastic Art Awards.
Artist's Description:
Initially a school project, this piece grew beyond that and into an exploration of the way memories become blurred over time. Every square can be seen as symbolizing an emotional "fragment", coming together to create a portrait that is deliberately hard to discern; One that lacks defining features or a clear identity, becoming someone more felt than remembered. Since my own memory tends to fail, I find myself focusing heavily on the emotions embedded in a moment, rather than on its particular details, with this piece standing as a representation of that.
