Hanne Behrens is a master of textile techniques in metal, known for her clean, elegant designs using gold and silver wire. She weaves, braids, knits, and crochets intricate jewelry, drawing on skills learned from Arline Fisch and Mary Lee Hu. Behrens’ work has earned her numerous accolades, including Bronze and Silver medals at the Best in Danish Craft and Design exhibition, and in 2000, she was commissioned to create a brooch for Queen Margrethe of Denmark’s 60th birthday. Her creations have been showcased in galleries and museums across Europe and the USA, with a 2021 retrospective at the Art Museum in Tønder, Denmark. Behrens’ work can be found in public collections, including the Danish Museum of Art & Design, the Museum of Art and Design in New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, as well as in private collections worldwide. Behrens continues to evolve her craft, experimenting with new techniques, metal combinations, and surface treatments to create small series of related works.
