Original September 11, 1944 Carnegie Hall program for the American Negro Opera Company, New York, accompanied by a vintage sepia portrait photograph of an unidentified woman, likely associated with the company or performance. The program features a decorative theatrical cover and interior pages with printed portraits and production photographs, including Adele Bodroghy, Daisy Medford, ballet dancers, a company unionization scene, a stage image captioned “A Little Fortune Telling by Gypsies,” and a printed portrait captioned Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The piece shows expected age-related wear, toning, staining, creasing, and handling marks, with the separate portrait photograph having notable edge loss, tears, curling, and surface discoloration. A scarce mid-20th-century African American performing arts and opera-related Carnegie Hall item, offering strong historical interest connected to Black musical theater, opera, and wartime New York cultural history.
