- Lot Description
An antique French wooden figural mantel clock featuring a neoclassical design with two seated classical figures flanking a central drum-form clock case, surmounted by an urn finial. The case appears to be constructed of wood with a gold-painted finish, showcasing detailed architectural elements and decorative urns on either side. The enamel dial with Roman numerals remains present, along with the original style hands, and the rear reveals a two-train movement with bell strikes. This piece is being sold as found and requires significant restoration: there is notable cracking and separation to the case, surface wear, losses to the gilt finish, structural instability, and deterioration around the movement housing. The dial shows damage and loss, and the working condition of the movement is unknown. Despite its condition issues, the clock retains strong decorative presence and offers an excellent restoration project or parts opportunity for collectors of French decorative arts..
