Hand-carved and painted wooden preening duck decoy signed “B. Mitchell” on the underside. The bird is carved in a graceful resting preener pose, with the head turned back over the body, an elongated pointed tail, glass eyes, painted wing patches, black breast and tail accents, and fine feather-like line decoration throughout the body. The surface shows attractive age, patina, rubbing, scuffs, paint wear, and underside losses consistent with handling and display. A well-shaped decorative folk art waterfowl decoy with strong form, appealing painted detail, and visible maker signature. Approx. dimensions (in): 5.75 x 13.75 x 5.25.
