- Lot Description
A framed limited edition print by C. G. Morehead titled “The President’s Office at the White House,” depicting the exterior of the Oval Office and White House grounds with autumn foliage and the curved walkway leading to the colonnade. The lower margin is printed “Limited Edition © C. G. Morehead, 1969,” titled at center, marked Plate No. VII at right, and bears a pencil signature by the artist. The image is also signed in the plate “Morehead ’69.” The reverse retains an explanatory printed artist’s statement describing Morehead’s inspiration after President John F. Kennedy’s death, his 1968 permission to set up an easel on the White House grounds during the Lyndon B. Johnson administration, and completion of the painting in 1969 after President Richard M. Nixon had taken office. Presented under glass in a gilt frame with matting; visible age and wear to the frame backing and paper dust cover, with the print appearing well preserved overall. Approx. frame size (in): 24.78 x 30.5 x 1, Approx. painting size (in): 16.25 x 22.
