- Lot Description
Expressive folk art mixed media painting depicting a bearded saintly figure holding a book or tablet, standing beneath a radiant orange sun with a small lamb nearby and a reclining animal or figure in the foreground. The work is executed in heavy impasto with layered textured paint, incised outlines, and a muted palette of blues, ochres, creams, pinks, and earth tones, giving the surface a richly weathered and tactile appearance. Presented in a simple black painted frame with visible age, chips, losses, and wear; the reverse shows an older wood stretcher and aged canvas backing. Signed at the lower right, though the signature is difficult to decipher. A distinctive outsider or folk art piece with strong religious and symbolic imagery, offered as found with surface texture, craquelure, frame wear, and age-related imperfections visible in the photos. Approx. frame size (in): 37.25 x 25.25 x 1.75, Approx. painting size (in): 36 x 24.
