- Lot Description
Tall narrow framed figural painting with a dreamlike, surrealist composition, depicting layered portraits and small figures within a coastal or lakeside landscape. The work features a large head form in the upper section, several expressive faces through the center, and a procession of small figures near the bottom, rendered in muted blues, yellows, greens, and reddish tones. Housed in a reddish-brown wood frame with visible wear, scuffs, and finish loss. The back is fitted with a fiberboard backing and hanging wire. Unsigned from visible inspection. An unusual vertical decorative artwork with strong folk, outsider, and symbolic qualities; condition shows surface wear, age-related marks, and frame wear as pictured. Approx. frame size (in): 23.25 x 7.25 x 0.75, Approx. painting size (in): 21.5 x 5.25.
