A striking mid-century oil on canvas portrait depicting a distinguished military officer in uniform, presented in a classic three-quarter pose with a pipe in hand. The subject wears a green service coat adorned with insignia and pins, suggesting U.S. Army affiliation, and is rendered with confident, expressive brushwork characteristic of mid-20th century portraiture. The painting captures a strong sense of personality and presence, with warm tonal modeling in the face contrasted against a muted, painterly background. Signed in the lower right corner (appears to read “Edwin…”), the work is housed in its original vintage wood frame with a subtle gilt finish. Verso retains a framer’s label from “Frames of Mine,” Fort Lee, New Jersey, adding to its period authenticity.
